About us
Glaukopis is situated in the upper layer of Ano Syros, which is the medieval settlement of Syros. The settlement was built during the later Byzantine era (1200s). It is a classical cycladic medieval settlement that is densely built with narrow roads, circular order and a radial street plan.
The overall effect reminds a fortified citadel. Syros came under France protection, which explains the strong Roman Catholic element throughout the island and in particular in Ano Syros.
